Our specialisms

Delivering the National Lottery Recovery Fund

The challenge
Sport England and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) needed help delivering the £100 million National Leisure Recovery Fund (NLRF)
The solution
In six weeks we built a business case for a biddable fund, developed the application process, designed assessment criteria, and advised Sport England on stakeholder engagement.
The result
Applications were received from all 270 eligible local authorities and funds were distributed to successful candidates before the end of the 2020/2021 financial year.

Building the Business Growth Service

The challenge
The Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) wanted to merge the Manufacturing Advisory Service and Growth Accelerator into a single source of support.
The solution
A cost-effective solution was delivered by leveraging our technical expertise in assurance and supplier management, and bringing together a network of 15 contractors.
The result
Evidence of the interventions' effectiveness collated by our insights and analytics team helped BEIS adjust the programme's priorities to maximise return on investment.

Advising on the Wales & Borders franchise and South Wales metro

The challenge
The Welsh Government and Transport for Wales (TfW) needed financial and commercial advice on procuring, mobilising and subsequently restructuring the Wales & Borders rail franchise and the South Wales metro.
The solution
Our clients received guidance on a commercial structure, transferring assets from Network Rail, bid evaluation, and optimising the appointment of an operator. As a result of the impact of COVID-19, we also helped TfW to take over rail operations.
The result
We have helped TfW to create appropriate commercial and financial structures to support improvements to the quality of rail services in Wales, in line with local political objectives.
