I joined Grant Thornton as a school leaver in 2011 and have spent all my professional career with the firm from trainee through to Director, working exclusively in the Not-for-Profit sector. I am motivated to work alongside bodies in the Not-for-Profit space due to their strong sense of purpose, value they provide the community and desire to use my own skillset to make an impact.
My experience covers a wide spectrum of organisations across the industry, with a focus on charities and education (Universities, Multi-Academy Trusts and Independent Schools). I pride myself on being able to draw upon this specialist experience to provide my clients with tailored audit and assurance services, support on solutions to problems or upcoming regulatory and financial reporting changes, and insightful knowledge on wider risks facing their business. I am a strong believer that the audit process should be so much more than an annual compliance exercise.
In addition to my role as an engagement leader, I can often be seen delivering sector-based training and updates both internally and to our clients and external network. I am also keen to nurture the next potential generation of auditors so where I can, I attend local schools and colleges to speak about my experiences to aspiring students.
Outside of work my time is largely spent with family and friends, particularly my wife and young daughter who keeps me on my toes. When I am not ticking off all the soft play centres around the greater Midlands area with the latter, I enjoy watching Birmingham City FC where I have held a season ticket for the last ten years (someone has to!).
