Head of Partner Development & Engagement

Perry Burton

I am the firm’s Head of Partner Development & Engagement and a member of the Strategic Leadership Team. In this role, I am responsible for creating a market-leading partner experience that attracts and retains a diverse group of business leaders and ensures they receive the development they need to contribute their best to the firm’s growth and success.

Prior to this, I was Grant Thornton’s Head of People and Brand for five years, responsible for attracting clients to the firm and attracting and retaining the firm’s 5,500 people. During my tenure as Head of People & Brand, the firm achieved record high Glassdoor scores, introduced Wellbeing Days, Birthday Leave, enhanced its Family Leave offering, adopted hybrid working and experimented with even more flexible ways of working.

For 25 years, I was a client-facing partner in Audit, Transaction Support, Corporate Finance and Consulting and have held leadership roles in the firm since 2007. During this time, I worked with various boards on leadership and cultural change, am a qualified coach and hold an MSc in Coaching and Behavioural Change from Henley Business School.

I grew up in a caravan in Addlestone, Surrey, and went to the local comprehensive school that closed due to continuing poor performance. I left school at 16 years old with three O-levels.

I’m married to Sandra and have three children, Kira (24), Owen (21) and Hannah (17). My main passions away from Grant Thornton are football (Chelsea FC), golf, running, reading, music, wine and travel. I have a passion for inclusion and diversity with a particular focus on mental health (in light of my own experience with anxiety and depression) and social mobility. I am currently SLT sponsor for Disability in our firm.
