Stuart Preston

I am head of restructuring and forensic in Scotland and act as Practice Leader for our Scottish practice with a focus on our markets and clients across all service lines.

I have spent over 20 years' advising distressed and under-performing businesses, I also act on behalf of stakeholders (banks, shareholders, government, etc) of such businesses. In a world of continual political and economic uncertainty, businesses encounter challenges every day – early advice and support is critical to preserve value and improve creditworthiness. My team and I have significant experience across a number of sectors, including oil and gas, energy retail, renewables, food and drink, manufacturing, construction and health care.

As well as working on a range of financial restructurings, I am a licensed insolvency practitioner, holding my licence since 2013. During that time, I have acted as office holder on a wide range of debtor and creditor led appointments of varying size and complexity.

Our forensic offering extends to dispute resolution and quantification of loss (commercial disputes, shareholder disputes, business interruption claims, personal injury claims and professional negligence actions), as well as fraud investigations (where we have undertaken numerous investigations, utilising our digital forensic team to secure and interrogate large volumes of data).

I have built up extensive experience acting as an expert witness, and have given evidence in both the Sheriff Court of Session on numerous occasions.

With a strong and experienced team around me, we are exceptionally well placed to support clients across the full spectrum of our restructuring and forensic offerings.

Away from work I spend most of my time with my family, from time to time venturing onto the golf course.
