Grant Thornton are delighted to have advised on the sale of Character World Limited to BioWorld Merchandising Inc

Character World is one of Europe's largest suppliers of licensed home textile products, partnering with some of the world’s leading character, gaming and music entertainment companies to provide bedding and associated goods for a wide range of children’s age groups, from pre-school up to students.

Grant Thornton was engaged by the shareholders of Character World Limited to achieve an exit for its private equity investor, Palatine Private Equity.

Our corporate finance team ran a competitive, tightly managed process involving a number of UK and overseas based trade parties.

Grant Thornton used its knowledge of the consumer sector to identify and approach parties considered to have a strong strategic alignment to Character World. We also used our International network to approach potential overseas buyers

Having obtained, through a competitive and tightly run sale process, a strong offer from BioWorld Merchandising Inc, we then optimised shareholder value through negotiation and finalisation of the completion mechanism.

Corporate finance partner Matthew Bryden-Smith who led the deal, commented “We are thrilled to have supported the shareholders on this transaction. The deal with BioWorld represented a strong outcome for the shareholders and is a great home for Character World. We wish Character World every success as part of the BioWorld Merchandising group”.

“Grant Thornton truly went above and beyond getting this deal over the line. Their advice throughout the process was invaluable, and we would not have achieved such a positive outcome for all stakeholders without their team.”
